Playturf recently transformed a 20,000m2 driving range which had been in place for nearly 30 years, into one of the finest Golf practice facilities in the UK.

The World of Golf driving range at New Malden, Surrey had fallen into a state of disrepair and required bringing back to life. Initially the brief was to cover the driving range in green carpet to replicate golf fairways.

However, working with Playrite the surface manufacturer, we realised there was an opportunity to create something different for the World of Golf. The idea was to create a theme to make it much more adventurous, and more like a real golf course with rough fairways and water hazards.

This fantastic new facility was created using a variety of Playrite products to give texture and realism;

Over 3 miles of seaming tape was used during the construction of the new range which despite some arduous conditions which included snow, -5C and the dark, was completed in 18 days from removal of the old carpet to the final finished design.

The transformation has exceeded client expectations in more ways than one. Not only is the range now aesthetically pleasing for all to use but the way that the driving range has been laid out has reduced the labour required to collect the golf balls by 90%.
